Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) located in the Washington metropolitan area, one of the nation's most economically vibrant and multicultural regions, NVCC seeks diverse faculty and staff who will advance the college in line with its strategic vision to serve as the Gateway to the American Dream ( http://www.nvcc.edu/depts/planning/NVCC_Strategic_Vision2004-2015_05-11-04.pdf ) for those pursuing access to higher education and careers in high-demand occupations. Those selected for positions will be expected to contribute to the realization of strategic goals related to student success, access, teaching and learning, excellence, leadership, and partnerships. The largest institution of higher education in Virginia, Northern Virginia Community College served over 60,000 credit students in 2003-04 with a comprehensive array of courses and associate degree programs in the arts and sciences, public services, technologies, nursing and allied health. The college has six campuses—Alexandria, Annandale, Loudoun, Manassas, Medical Education, and Woodbridge—as well as an Extended Learning Institute. Opening in Spring 2006 are two new Education Centers—in Reston and in Arlington. Faculty members are expected to engage in curriculum and course development, participate in college and campus committees and other activities, and be available to teach day, evening and/or Saturday classes.
