The largest institution of higher education in Virginia, Northern Virginia Community College served over 60,000 credit students in 2003-04 with a comprehensive array of courses and associate degree programs in the arts and sciences, public services, technologies, nursing and allied health. The college has six campuses—Alexandria, Annandale, Loudoun, Manassas, Medical Education, and Woodbridge—as well as an Extended Learning Institute. Opening in Spring 2006 are two new Education Centers—in Reston and in Arlington.

Faculty members are expected to engage in curriculum and course development, participate in college and campus committees and other activities, and be available to teach day, evening and/or Saturday classes. Must be computer literate and possess strong oral and written communication skills. Must be available to advise students.
