There also are many opportunities to conduct research or to obtain funding to study multi-cultural or ethnic issues. Northridge is the only public university based in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, serving a region that would be the fifth largest city in the United States if incorporated.

Cal State Northridge is a half-hour drive from the beach, the desert and the mountains. So whether you favor city life or relaxing with nature, the University has what you are looking for. Our winters are very moderate, so you won't need heavy winter clothes (unless you enjoy visiting the ski slopes, which are about a two-hour drive).
